Affordable comfort in 100 Mile House

The South Cariboo, 100 Mile House area is a year round vacation destination for outdoor enthusiasts. The surrounding lakes provide excellent opportunities for fishing, boating, canoing and kayaking. Mel and Kim Torgerson have been 100 Mile House residents for more than twenty five years. Community mindedness and involvement have long driven this couple to be active with many service groups withing the 100 Mile House community.

Strong advocates for inclusiveness in communities, especially when contributing to the needs of seniors, Mel, has managed Carefree Manor, an assisted living facility for seniors, and sat on the Measuring Up North committee, studying accessibility and inclusion issues for seniors.

Mel also volunteered with the Cariboo Chilcotin Partners for Literacy.

In 2010 the Torgerson's took over the 99 Mile Motel and immediately started upgrading and renovating the units and the property.

They now operate the motel as a pet friendly, family oriented motel with easy accessibility for those with mobility issues.

In their free time, Mel and Kim enjoy golf and spending time outdoors. They are also very enthusiastic about the potential for business growth in the community of 100 Mile House. It is the small town customer service and attention to detail that sets the 99 Mile Motel apart from other chain operated motels and hotels.
